Episode 61
Persuasive Communication with Dr. Barbara Tannenbaum
Few things strike fear into the hearts of women and men as much as the thought of public speaking. There was actually a study that found that public speaking is the #1 fear of the average person, want to know what #2 is death! Jerry Seinfeld talked about this in one of his stand up routines, joking that the average person, if you had to be at a funeral, would rather be in the casket than giving the eulogy!
It doesn’t have to be this way. Listen in as I talk with Dr. Tannenbaum, a highly acclaimed award winning professor, who teaches courses in public speaking and persuasive communication in the Department of Theatre, Arts and Performance Studies at Brown University.
Dr. Tannenbaum and I discuss everything from how to stop using filler words - think ums, ahs, and like, how to connect with your audience, the importance of non verbal communication, as well as how to be confident in front of an audience. You don’t want to miss this one.
