Okay, here it is the last short episode of the summer before we have
Speaker:to get back to school, back to work.
Speaker:And back to absolutely crazy schedules.
Speaker:Which I'm guessing some of you are already looking at your fall
Speaker:schedule saying, fuck, can we like go back to lockdown maybe?
Speaker:Welcome to episode one 60 of this shit works a podcast dedicated to
Speaker:all things, networking, relationship building and business development.
Speaker:I'm your host, Julie Brown.
Speaker:Speaker author and networking coach.
Speaker:And today on the dish, it works short.
Speaker:I'm giving you five tips on how to network when you don't have any time to network.
Speaker:We all know how important networking is, or at least I hope you do.
Speaker:Building a network.
Speaker:We'll give you a competitive advantage.
Speaker:Full-stop.
Speaker:So, no matter how busy we get, we still need to find time to make networking
Speaker:part of our daily and weekly routine.
Speaker:So even when you are a balls to the wall, busy, here are five ways that you can
Speaker:still fit, networking into your schedules.
Speaker:Ready?
Speaker:One.
Speaker:Prioritize quality over quantity instead of attending
Speaker:all of the events or meetings.
Speaker:Choose a few high value opportunities where, you know, you will be able to
Speaker:connect with new people and also reconnect with existing members of your network.
Speaker:Too.
Speaker:Use LinkedIn literally hop on and spend 10 minutes a day engaging in meaningful
Speaker:conversations, sharing your own insights.
Speaker:And commenting on relevant posts.
Speaker:You'd be surprised how much you can do in only 10 minutes a day.
Speaker:Three.
Speaker:Leverage downtime, meaning use your commuting time breaks or waiting periods
Speaker:to engage in quick networking activities like sending personalized LinkedIn
Speaker:connection requests, responding to emails.
Speaker:Texting or calling someone in your network?
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:When I'm in the car, I love to listen to true crime podcasts, but
Speaker:honestly the time is better spent calling people and catching up.
Speaker:That's found time.
Speaker:That's leveraging downtime.
Speaker:For focus on following up with people you've already met.
Speaker:I'm sure there are a number of people in your network that you
Speaker:haven't talked to in awhile.
Speaker:So network within your own existing network, choose two or three people
Speaker:per week to simply send an email or a text message or pick up the phone
Speaker:and call them and just reconnect.
Speaker:You would, you'd be amazed what could happen in these short little interactions
Speaker:with people that you already know.
Speaker:And five.
Speaker:Please.
Speaker:Network in your office.
Speaker:The most successful people are the ones who can make mutually beneficial and
Speaker:uplifting connections in their own office.
Speaker:So you're already there spend some time making new connections.
Speaker:Strike up a conversation with somebody you haven't talked to in the
Speaker:office before and start getting to know your coworkers better and make
Speaker:them part of your overall network.
Speaker:So, if you look at these five tips, all of them, except for the first one
Speaker:can be done in a short amount of time.
Speaker:Every single day.
Speaker:Time, you spend scrolling through social media or listening to podcasts or driving
Speaker:your car or walking around the office.
Speaker:So there's really no excuse not to do these things on a daily or weekly basis.
Speaker:See, even when we have no time to network, you actually have
Speaker:plenty of time to network.
Speaker:All right friends.
