Speaker:

I spent all of last week at my ski house.

2

:

Seeking alone time in order to immerse

myself in the art of perfecting,

3

:

memorizing, and rehearsing my brand new

keynote, Networking to Launch Your Career,

4

:

tailored specifically for the bright

minds of college and university students,

5

:

which, at the time of this recording, I

will be debuting in exactly two weeks.

6

:

Each day was a marathon of reading,

reciting, and delivering my keynote,

7

:

repeating the process ad nauseum.

8

:

So that literally by the end of the

day my brain resembled a bowl of mush.

9

:

And I literally wanted nothing

more than to plop down in front of

10

:

the TV and enter full on veg mode.

11

:

One night, I happened upon a documentary

on none other than nature boy, Ric Flair.

12

:

Suddenly, a floodgate of childhood

memories surged back, reminiscent

13

:

of those days I spent glued to

the TV, cheering on my favorite

14

:

wrestling heroes when I was a kid.

15

:

Welcome to episode 184 of This Shit

Works, a podcast dedicated to all

16

:

things networking, relationship

building, and business development.

17

:

I'm your host, Julie Brown, speaker,

author, and networking coach, and

18

:

today I'm diving into the world of

one of the most charismatic figures in

19

:

professional , the one Nature boy, Ric

Flair, to explore the importance of

20

:

embracing your uniqueness and celebrating

years of victories with a resounding,

21

:

Woooooooooooooooo!

22

:

it's been widely talked about on

this podcast that young Julie was

23

:

absolutely obsessed with WWF and

all things wrestling in general.

24

:

When I was a kid, I had the Hulkamania

t shirts, the thumb wrestlers.

25

:

I even had the land of a

thousand wrestlers album.

26

:

On vinyl.

27

:

Yeah, Obsessed only touches

on the level of my addiction

28

:

to wrestling when I was a kid.

29

:

And yeah, Hulk Hogan

was one of my favorites.

30

:

Ricky Dragon in the steamboat was

probably my favorite, but I loved

31

:

and appreciated all of the wrestlers,

especially Nature Boy Ric Flair with

32

:

his flamboyant style that included

bedazzled and feather fringed robes,

33

:

his confident walk, larger than life

personality and signature catchphrase.

34

:

Woo!

35

:

He was not just a wrestling legend.

36

:

He is literally a symbol of

unapologetic self expression.

37

:

That iconic catchphrase, woo,

has transcended the wrestling

38

:

ring and embedded itself into

the fabric of hip hop culture.

39

:

It's more than just a sound.

40

:

It's a symbol of celebration,

success, and unapologetic living.

41

:

From the likes of J of Z to Offset,

the WOOO has become a hip hop ad lib

42

:

synonymous with success, opulence,

and living life to the fullest.

43

:

Ric Flair's influence doesn't stop there.

44

:

His extravagant lifestyle, confident

and charismatic presence have

45

:

inspired countless athletes across

different sports from various

46

:

disciplines, whether it's basketball,

football, or even mixed martial arts.

47

:

Others have tried to adopt aspects

of Flair's persona, the flashy

48

:

entrances, the stylish wardrobes.

49

:

It's all part of the Ric Flair effect.

50

:

So how do we find our effect?

51

:

How do we find our signature woo?

52

:

Well, the first thing would

be to embrace your uniqueness.

53

:

Whether it's your sense of humor, your

quirks, or your passions, don't be

54

:

afraid to let them shine as bright as

one of Ric Flair's jewel encrusted robes.

55

:

Second, Celebrate your victories.

56

:

Ric Flair's woo is a

declaration of success and joy.

57

:

It's not just about the big wins.

58

:

It's about acknowledging every

triumph, no matter how small.

59

:

So the next time you achieve a goal or

overcome an obstacle, give yourself a

60

:

moment to shout out your own woo and bask

in the glory of your accomplishments.

61

:

Third, walk with confidence.

62

:

Ric Flair's iconic strut is

a symbol of self assurance.

63

:

Whether he's entering the wrestling

ring or the grocery store, he carries

64

:

himself with undeniable confidence.

65

:

So straighten that posture, put on your

own metaphorical, flashy, feathery robe,

66

:

and walk through life with the assurance

that you are a force to be reckoned with.

67

:

Fourth, and maybe the most important,

don't be afraid to be loud and proud.

68

:

Ric Flair's woo is not a quiet whisper.

69

:

It's a bold, thunderous declaration.

70

:

Don't shy away from expressing yourself.

71

:

In the spirit of the Nature Boy,

let's remember that finding our inner

72

:

woo is a journey, not a destination.

73

:

He wasn't born the Nature Boy with

robes and bleached hair and that woo.

74

:

It was a process.

75

:

And during his journey, he looked

inside and discovered the pieces

76

:

of himself that were already there

and became him, unapologetically.

77

:

So from this day forward,

embrace your flair.

78

:

Celebrate your victories and let your woo

echo through the corridors of your life.

79

:

All this wooing is making me thirsty.

80

:

So let's get onto the drink of the

week, which before I get to it, I just

81

:

have to say that Ric Flair has been

quoted as saying to his opponents before

82

:

wrestling, I've spent more money on.

83

:

Spilled liquor at bars this year

than you have made in a lifetime.

84

:

Rick is known for being a heavy drinker,

but also a very generous drinker in the

85

:

sense that he will buy everyone drinks.

86

:

He wants people to have a good time and

party with him, which is probably why when

87

:

I Googled Ric Flair cocktail, there were.

88

:

Many, many, many options to choose from.

89

:

This is the one I decided on to share.

90

:

So here's what you're going to need.

91

:

One part gin, one part tonic water,

and one part grapefruit juice.

92

:

Top a pint glass with ice and add

the gin, tonic, and grapefruit juice.

93

:

Apparently, it's crisp, refreshing,

classy, not too strong, and easy to drink.

94

:

All right, friends.

95

:

That's all for this week.
